Dear SPD families, 9/10/20
This Fall, we regretfully will not be able to have a Fall Sensory Play Day, at the direction of our Forks Church Session, due to the complications/ risks of hosting our community event with the current public health challenges from covid. We see this as an opportunistic redirection, rather than a closed door.
The purpose of our Sensory Play Day Outreach since 2009, has been to offer sensory rich, shared play activities, and opportunities for social engagement for families who have children with special needs, in a safe and supportive environment, with the love of Jesus Christ. The large ballfield event has been cancelled for 2020, but the family needs for support, understanding and connection remain the same.
There is hope and opportunity ahead for the Sensory Play Day Outreach! Our purpose has expanded in going smaller. We are seeking to better respond to family needs in more personal ways, in this uniquely stressful time. You Matter and Your Family Matters. We want you to feel supported and encouraged and most of all to have Hope that gives you strength, sufficient for each day.
We need to adapt our outreach efforts to strengthen personal connection. We seek to be relevant, and genuinely care, so we might be trusted in meeting needs and coming alongside, as we are able. We seek to build relationships that can last and influence in what truly matters.
We need to hear from you! Over the past 5+ months, each family has faced unique and difficult challenges due to school closures, with the abrupt loss of daily routines and structure, limited external support, 24/7 non-stop demands….. Many of your experiences are hard to fathom, and now with the start of on-line school again, the challenges continue.
We want, and need to learn from you!
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4.13, ESV
